I apologize for English.

I agree, there are many special lost swords that can still be found.

One easy way to identify the top Soshu swords is to look for Hataraki in the form of thick lines of Nie that drive down from the Ji, through the Hamon and into the Ha.
Even if rough shape, this detail can be seen through the rust.

About Honjo Masamune:
Neither the rightful heirs, nor Japanese Government have ever officially released correct information on the sword. It is a secret sword as you probably know.
Dr. Honma Junji told a few people the details and a few in the U.S. were given photographs for the search.
Surprisingly to me,
one person on Twitter that I do not know, spoke of their sensei and Honma Junji conversation about HM.
The HM is very unusual and a short sword. It was noted that it is in the U.S.
